The Porsche 550 Spyder was Porsche's first purpose-built racing car, a featherweight mid-engine roadster powered by the intricate four-cam Type 547 flat-four. Nicknamed the giant-killer for humbling far larger cars in period, it built the foundation of Porsche's competition reputation. Only about 90 genuine 550s were made, so authentic examples are extremely rare and command prices to match.
